September is National Recovery Month

September is National Recovery Month, a long-standing, national observance to promote the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for substance use and mental disorders.

It’s also a time to celebrate people in recovery, laud the contributions of treatment and service providers, and promote the message that recovery – in all its forms – is possible.

We want to spread a positive message that addiction treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life. Behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people CAN AND DO recover!

It’s important to educate about recovery, know how it works, for whom, and why. There are millions of Americans whose lives have been transformed through recovery and sometimes these successes go unnoticed. Let’s celebrate sobriety!!!

We applaud the precious lives of those we know who have broken free from addiction: Mike Schleis, Nick Bianco, Tim Smith, Nicole Walmsley, Ashley Dasen … just to name a few.

Feel free to share with us who you’re celebrating in a comment below or, tell us how long you’ve been free from addiction!!! Every life matters; we’re so grateful for yours!

The Wadsworth Drug-Free Community Coalition exists to prevent, educate and support youth, adults and families on substance/drug abuse by providing resources and raising awareness in our community.
